This video produced by a jazz fan who uses the name gatopardoification sets Ella Fitzgerald's vocals to a photo gallery of Art Shay's black and white work over the decades.
Art Shay fans continue to mix their own tributes in many media forms. A painter, Andrea Jablonski, copied one of Shay's best known photographs of Nelson Algren for a mural in Oak Park, on a wall near the train track.
Beth Rosen, a Chicago writer, included a birthday greeting for Art Shay on her blog, The Mid Life Wife.
