Karl Beitzel of Canton, an artist working on an innovation for a medical device, developed a new way to fish. That's the story behind the company Beitzel started that just won a $50,000 grant for promising entrepreneurs. The Repository has the details:
At first the work at the medical device company hit a block:
He salvaged the project when he developed a knotless tie still using the fishing line. It currently is undergoing FDA testing for surgical use on presbyopia and glaucoma patients.
At home, it occurred to him that the same method could be used to attach fishing line to a hook without a knot.
Jack Hooks became the name of his business. Its motto: “If you are still tying knots, you don’t know Jack.”

On the Jack Hooks website, the new entrepreneur explains the appeal of his fishing hooks:
Jack Hooks not only saves time with a quicker tie, it gives everyone the ability to fish without the hastle of tedious, confusing, and time consuming knots.
We added the hooks to the Pinterest board Made in Stark County.
