Pickup truck in backyard pool

PickupinpoolThis New Jersey family has had enough. After three different vehicles crashed into their yard, they have started an effort to call attention to the need for a guardrail. Some of the best evidence is this photo showing what a pickup truck did to their pool five years ago. NBC10 has more. And our list of cars in pools just keeps growing.

1997 Ford in Florida pool

Another car in another backyard pool. Does this happen more often in Florida, or does it just seem that way? The Miami Herald has a photo.

update Click for a photo of the car being removed.

A Sun-Sentinel report captures the moment:

Jennette Baksh, 21, of Cooper City, was not injured in the 9:40 a.m. crash that started in the northbound lanes of Nob Hill Road, said Lt. Bill Bamford, police spokesman.

Baksh told police she hit a bump in the road and lost control of her red 1997 Ford Aspire. The car went off the road, through a fence, then plunged into the pool at 1511 West Oak Knoll Circle.

No one was home, but Baksh was able to disentangle herself from the car and escape, then call for help.

Toyota in backyard pool

The Houston Chronicle has this report (with photo):

The west Houston woman arrived home to find a 1995 Toyota Avalon on the bottom of the deep end of her swimming pool. It had sped in so fast that the yard was mostly unscathed save for some patio furniture underneath the vehicle.

The neighbor's son was outside in the yard next door when "the water kind of projectiled over the fence," she said, after a tow truck removed the car from the pool Sunday afternoon.

"The force of it made a wave," she said.
