I heard MSNBC say that the Chilean miners were wearing 180-buck shades and had a pair of Oakleys on the news desk that they said the company sent them. Later I hear $480. Huffington Post has a variety of prices reported.
I am on the lookout for a costume helmet with flashlight and Oakley knockoffs today for a Halloween costume. I wonder if I can find 32 others to trick-or-treat with me? Somewhere there is a classroom of kids with the same idea. Chi!Chi!Chi! Le! Le! Le!
Live coverage of the rescue of the final two miners trumped the Delaware senate debate on CNN. The news network had been promoting its role in the debate for weeks, but the lively exchanges between the Tea Party favorite, Republican Christine O'Donnell, and the Democrat, Chris Coons, could not compete with the drama in Chile.
As the debate started, CNN showed the candidates. CNN.com live streamed the video of the mine rescue. In the old days it would have been a split-screen moment. Now that a family room has two or more screens (TV, PC and laptop), it was instead a double-screen event.
TVNewser has the ratings from the hour when the first miners were rescued. CNN came out on top. The real winners, of course, are the miners, their families and the rescue team. Chi!Chi!Chi! Le! Le! Le!
