Thermis Cowl, a Knitted Gift

  I stressed a lot about this Thermis pattern.  The gauge is off. I emailed the designer and never heard back so I read everyone's comments on Ravelry. At the suggested 14 stitches for 4 inches, this cowl would be gigantic. I cast on 100 stitches with Malabrigo worsted on 5s and it seems to fit my friend well. She told me that her nose is always cold so I added extra repeats to make the Thermis taller.  I had fun looking at knitting patterns under 'nose warmer' heading. There is a crazy pattern floating out there for an Avatar-looking headgear. 

Alligator Scarf

Morehouse Farm writes beautiful, easy to follow patterns. It was a pleasure knitting this alligator scarf for my daughter.So many knitters on Ravelry said to avoid the yarn Morehouse suggests and sells for its patterns because of the abundance of vegetable matter, and the itchiness. I used Berroco Comfort because it is non-animal and completely washable. It comes in lots of colors, but I stuck with traditional green and think it looks great. I doubled the yarn at the head and tail to give more body. Knit on 7's.
