Some college students participate in a trash to treasure effort to reduce, reuse and recycle. Another way to spread the word about the environment and energy is to post to a blog. One good example is Energy Matters, which has tackled issues ranging from coal to wind.
One of the first things you learn in international finance is that life is intertemporal and that deficits now mean that we are borrowing against our future. And anyone who has seen The Godfather knows that all debts must be paid back eventually.
I am fine with the debt I am taking upon myself because I know I will be able to pay it off, but what about the debt that others have dumped on me without my consent? The national debt is roughly $9 trillion, the cost of the war in Iraq and ongoing occupation is roughly $460 billion and the cost of bringing America’s infrastructure up to passable levels — according to the American Society of Civil Engineers — is $1.6 trillion. Add to that the incalculable cost of stopping global warming or dealing with the disasters to follow; the massive costs of adjusting to a less energy-intensive society that will result from the eventual oil supply’s peak and decline; and the trillions of dollars we will pay into Social Security and Medicare for the baby boomers, and we rack up a staggering bill. How are we, as a generation, going to pay for this?
Sure, you can go from Birth to Death in under 10 hours. But what more people are starting to realize is that Here to There is shorter. So is Start to Finish. You know what takes all day? Dawn to Dusk. Think this is easy? Why we've been to Hell and Back to come up with these examples. To help all of you, here's the route from Freshman to Graduate. That give you the tools you need to go from Rags to Riches. (Google won't help with that one, but Mapquest came to the rescue. Other suggestions? Leave a comment. Thanks, Veronica.)
A sophomore at Rowan University in south Jersey was beaten to death in October. Investigators have store surveillance video (below) that shows a person they think is an important suspect. The prosecutors have posted the surveillance video on YouTube, hoping that will inspire someone to help them find the suspect and bring a killer to justice.
It is believed to be the first time that county investigators have
turned to the free video Web site, said Bernie Weisenfeld, a spokesman
for Dalton, who added, "It's just another way of reaching people."
Authorities have been circulating a video of the suspect taken in a
nearby convenience store moments before the attack. It has been shown
by media outlets and posted online on the America's Most Wanted site.
A $50,000 reward has been offered by Rowan and Gloucester and Morris
County law-enforcement agencies for information leading to an arrest
and conviction.
In the video, the suspect is seen wearing a distinctive sweatshirt,
identified by investigators as a Coogie Heritage hoodie. The sweatshirt
has a gray body, red sleeves, and a British flag logo on the left chest
area.
The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-7,
with a medium complexion, round facial features, braided hair, a thin
moustache, and a light goatee.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact investigators at 856-307-7180 or [email protected].
