I can’t keep my eyes open. It’s such an effort to open my eyes, so much energy required to lift those lids. I keep the TV going so I have something to look at. Good grief, such nonsense! I can’t hear it, my hearing aids seem not compatible with the TV sound.
NOTE Major Observation:
There are so many racially mixed couples paired as commentators, friends, panelists, in drama, but it is always a white woman with a black man. Always. I have not seen a white man coupled with a black woman. Unless it happened when my eyes were closed.

Library books on tape might be better than bad TV (and you could keep resting your eyes). Nothing too ponderous, though. I've heard raves about the Harry Potter series on tape--apparently the narrator does an amazing array of voices.

Dear Florence, I agree with Sara. Audio books or some music (maybe Billy Corrigan can set up an iPod for you) would be much better than the television. Or if you need to look at something, get someone to bring you a portable DVD player with movies of your choice.
For that matter, someone should be bringing you at least dinner everyday! If I lived closer, I would be certain to take a day of the week to bring you something better than limp fries and hot dogs. What do they thing, their patients are 9-year-old boys who actually like that kind of grub?!
Also, I highly recommend (again agreeing with Sara) the Harry Potter audio books or really just about anything from the world of YA literature. They are usually "feel-good" books because at least they have a positive and optimistic outlook at the end of the books. But regular television programming is only going to make you feel aggravated. It's not worthy of someone like you!
I hope your rehab improves. I am following your progress and sending positive thoughts your way.
Fondly,
Rose

I must be the exception to your rule.
